What is

    IN HOME CARE

In Home Care (IHC) was introduced as a flexible form of childcare designed to accommodate shift working families that are unable to access mainstream childcare.

In Home Care (IHC) is funded by the Australian Government for families who are eligible for the Child Care Subsidy and meet the eligibility criteria. For more information on CCS contact the Department of Human Services.

In Home Child Care is the perfect solution for shift workers who are unable to access standardised childcare due to unsociable working hours they are required to work.

How do i know if i qualify?

    Working non-standard hours

Parents or carers work non-standard or variable hours, outside normal child care hours

    Remote areas

Parents or carers are geographically isolated from other types of approved child care, particularly in rural or remote locations

    Challenging needs

The family has challenging or complex needs, including where families are experiencing challenging situations, and other approved child care services are not able to meet the needs of the child or the family

    How does it work?

To access IHC, families must be eligible for CCS. Given the unique family aspect of IHC, a family’s CCS entitlement for IHC will be based on a family hourly rate cap of $33.17 per hour and not an hourly rate cap per child.

The Child Care Subsidy will be paid directly to the service providers who distribute it accordingly.

    Child Care Subsidy annual cap

Families earning $186,958 or less per year will not be subject to a cap on the amount of Child Care Subsidy they can access. Families earning over $186,958 and under $351,248 will still have an annual cap which will increase to $10,190 per year per child.

    Multiple Children

As IHC has a family CCS hourly rate cap of $33.17 dollars, rather than a per child CCS hourly rate cap. The nominated child can be any child that meets the suitability criteria for IHC in the session of care.
